| Introduction |

Core Medical Training programme is the new training programme for doctors pursuing career in hospital medicine under the MMC. Coventry and Warwickshire Core Medical Training programme includes doctors from three NHS trust in the Coventry and Warwickshire region namely University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW), South Warwick General Hospital NHS Trust (SWGH) and George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust (GEH).

UHCW NHS Trust is based at two sites. The main Hospital is located at Coventry and some of the trainees may have their placement at St Cross Hospital in Rugby. SWGH hospital is located in Warwick and GEH is located in Nuneaton.

The programme is under the West Midland Deanery (WMD) and forms one of the foundation schools to the total of six schools in the West Midland region. Trainees in this school will be rotating through the above mentioned NHS trust during their training tenure.

The school has established a set of standards, many of which are generic across the WMD, and all of which are consistent with the national standards set by the PMETB, by which all our programmes should abide

The programme is essentially trainee led with set competencies to be achieved through a streamlined training programme for smooth progression.

Our aim is to deliver high quality training for doctors entering the programme through national recruitment process. We will strive to provide ample opportunity for our trainees to meet the standards as outlined in the Curriculum. Across the WMD we have made an attempt to have a structured programme schedule for training, covering the generic and general medical speciality topics outlined  in the curricula over  two years. Similar to other training programme across the country, the trainees will have workplace based assessment and appraisal as set by PMETB which is in the form electronic portfolio.
